Hybrid Technology – Clean and Quiet Urban Transport

With its mass-producible hybrid drives for urban and trolley buses, Vossloh Kiepe provides cost-effective and eco-friendly innovations for (sub)urban transport. Both drive systems operate on the basis of durable electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs), so-called supercaps, which are capable of providing the all the power needed during acceleration. Fuel consumption and exhaust emissions are thus substantially reduced.

The supercap systems can be installed in urban and trolley buses of different lengths. The drive for hybrid urban buses has been performing very well in daily operation in the double joint “LighTram” produced by Carrosserie HESS since the summer of 2007. more

The New G 6 Packs a Robust Punch

As the first model of a new locomotives family made by Vossloh Locomotives in Kiel, the new three-axle G 6 couples compact dimensions (only 10.35 meters in length) with impressive power. Fitted with a 650 kW engine, the most powerful diesel-electric locomotive in its class achieves up to 220 kN of tractive power and a speed of up to 80 km/h.

The G 6 already complies with all German and international limits regarding exhaust emissions, noise protection, software and fire protection that will come into effect as of 2009 and was designed to permit easy adaptation to future standards and directives. more

High-speed switches: safety at ultimate speeds

In April 2007, the TGV achieved a record speed of 578.4 km/h. The “world-record” switch of Vossloh Switch Systems was crossed on this occasion at a speed of 560 km/h. Since then, Vossloh Switch Systems has widened the options available for high-speed switches: They can now be actuated with the track-integrated Easyswitch point operating equipment, which consists of proven in-sleeper plug & play modules and whose installation can be completed within a very short time.

Additionally, the remote condition monitoring system SURVAIG NG ensures even greater safety and minimum maintenance input. This system will detect in good time even the slightest irregularities and helps to avoid around 70 % of all potential damage. more

EURO 4000: the best-seller

The EURO 4000 built by Vossloh España in Valencia, optional for passenger or freight haulage, is still Europe's most powerful diesel-electric locomotive – its propulsion plant comprises EMD components such as the 16-cylinder two-cycle turbocharged engine developing 3,178 kW.

Already sold 45 times since 2006, the EURO 4000 has been engineered for pan-European, cross-border operation. It is fully ETCS compatible for future ERTMS corridors and will easily adapt to any European rail system. more

Vossloh Track Fasteners – Ideal for Heavy Haul

To meet the requirements of heavy haul transport, Vossloh Fastening Systems developed specific track fasteners for concrete sleepers (model W 14 HH) and wooden sleepers for use with US standard AREMA base plates (model BTE 14). Both systems guarantee safe and low-maintenance train operation.
These systems ensure the track is permanently tensioned and thus satisfy the high creep resistance requirements demanded by AREMA test conditions. At the same time, thanks to using the highly resilient SKL 14 R tension clamp, the two systems feature standard protection against tilting, are maintenance free and highly economical. more

Noise Abatement – Transportation on Silent Tracks

Less wheel noise and screech-free curves: with solutions in the field of “silent tracks”, Vossloh Fastening Systems is making an important contribution to effective noise abatement in rail transport. Further development work has gone into Vossloh’s web damping solutions as well as the two low-vibration fastening systems Delkor EGG and System 336.

While web dampers can be used in conjunction with any type of rail track, Delkor EGG reduces airborne sound levels on slab tracks as well as concrete and wooden sleepers and System 336 reduces noise on ballastless concrete and steel structures. more
