Noise-reduction components: a quiet rail ride

Vossloh has refined its rail web damping and low-vibration fastening systems

Silencing rail traffic: this is a challenge that is being addressed by Vossloh Fastening Systems with its “quiet rail” solutions. Further developed have been the rail web damping and vibration-reduction fastening systems Delkor EGG and 336, designed to effectively abate air and structure-borne noise levels in various areas of rail traffic.

On track rails of all kinds, the rail web damping system results in a significant reduction in squealing and rolling noise levels caused when negotiating curves. It is simple to install, either bonded to the rail web or spring connected with a boot clamp. Consisting of plastic/iron granules, this compact element is maintenance and corrosion free and available to match all the customary rail profiles.
A layer of special rubber on the Delkor EGG fastening system subdues to a minimum rail vibration and noise. Completely mounted in rubber, the top pad absorbs all the movements of the rail vehicle. Delkor EGG, further developed as part of the research project Quiet Trains on Real Tracks (L Zar G) sponsored by the government, the Association of the Rail Industry in Germany and Deutsche Bahn AG, is a system that can be applied to slab tracks, concrete and timber ties/sleepers as well as bridge beams.

On the 336 rail fastening system for ballast-free concrete and steel structures, a highly flexible elastomeric base plate ensures effective reduction of vibrations. The modular system features outstanding properties with regard to rail subsidence as well as noise and vibration attenuation. It is completely maintenance free, especially suitable for tram and metro tracks, and can be flexibly adapted to local conditions.
