High-speed switches: safety at ultimate speeds
Successors to the “world-record” switch with new point operating equipment and remote condition monitoring systemVossloh Switch System has widened the options available for high-speed switches that are already performing a reliable job on a multitude of high-speed networks worldwide. The switches can now be actuated with the track-integrated Easyswitch point operating equipment. Additionally, the remote condition monitoring system SURVAIG NG ensures even greater safety and minimum maintenance input.
Just as on numerous other high-speed networks worldwide, Vossloh Switch Systems supplied all the turnouts for the LGV Est line from Paris to Strasbourg. In April 2007, the TGV achieved on this route a record speed of 578.4 km/h. The “world-record” switch of Vossloh Switch Systems was crossed on this occasion at a speed of 560 km/h. Since then, the company has developed new components for high-speed applications which will be on show at this year's InnoTrans.
SURVAIG NG is a newest-generation maintenance-facilitating remote condition monitoring system which can be integrated into the high-speed switches. This adaptive monitoring system which helps avoid around 70 % of all potential damage, records and analyzes a variety of variables such as the actuating performance of the switch motor, current consumption, track vibration and ambient temperature. It will detect in good time even the slightest irregularities. In this way, SURVAIG NG not only plays a major role in enhancing safety; it also lowers maintenance input and life-cycle costs.
